Evaluation Project
Part I:
Introduction:
Current Program: define a current program in your school’s Guidance Department (or lack thereof) for purposes of improving student outcomes (cognitive, affect, behavior) utilizing counseling interventions.
Need for Change: describe the need to change an existing program or develop a new program to meet the needs of students.
Historical Background: describe in detail the current program (when it was developed, why it was created, purpose of program, who is involved in its facilitation); if developing a new program, discuss the details based on other schools that may have implemented this type of program.
Focus Change Question: Establish a clear direction/plan of what your strategy for change is – what is the mission of this program?
Current School Context: What is the current school context? What issues are presented within the school that call for a change?
Counseling Theory Applied: Choose a specific intervention approach and describe how this approach will be useful in your program- (i.e. many school guidance programs utilize Solution Focused Theory).
Defining Expected Results: how will you know if your program is successful? What results would you like to see?
Clearly define how the program will impact/improve Cognition, Affect, Behavior, & Achievement for students.
Part II:
Lit Review
Compile research related to your STRATEGIES for improving outcome in your school (i.e. present research on solution focused interventions that will help support your proposed program outcome) – please present AT LEAST 6 empirical articles to support your claim. Please ensure that you provide in-text citations when referencing articles.
Part III:
Evaluation & Assessment:
How will you evaluate if your program is successful? Describe, in detail, the assessments that you will use to evaluate the proposed program initiatives (i.e. using the Emotional & Behavioral Screener EBS, which is a teacher reporting tool, to assess functioning in the classroom)- you must include validity & reliability information for the instruments used.
Part IV:
Ethical & Legal Concerns:
Describe any ASCA Ethical Issues regarding program evaluation that should be considered
Describe in detail any challenges and limitations that you may experience in the process of developing this program evaluation.
Write a conclusion that reiterates your purpose and brings meaning to your project.
***Please include a title page, an Abstract, an Introduction, a conclusion, and a APA reference page.
Additionally please structure your project like an academic research paper, with subheadings for each section. References should be current SCHOLARLY sources such as journal articles & text books that are no more than 10-12 years old.
