A.I. and Mass Unemployment
Watch only the first hour and six minutes of the documentary.

The documentary discusses the theme of artificial intelligence, and it argues that vast changes have begun to appear in the world of work. Half of American jobs are potentially automatable. Education and critical thinking skills do not insulate fields of work from this risk. Consider that right now you are engaging in a discussion that has been partly automated and could only have taken place fifteen years ago with a professor and your classmates physically present in a classroom.
Two arguments dominate the discussion of this change in the technology industry. They see two different outcomes for workers.
1) We dont know how A.I. will change the labor force, but changes like this have happened with each new wave of automation and everything will be ok with the A.I. rollout as well.
2) This wave of automation is different and we are about to see labor force disruption, poverty and permanent unemployment like never before.
With which of these two positions do you agree and why?
