Read chapters 1-7, need to reference generations, L1/L2, and anything else that’s relevant to immigrant groups, specific dialects, mixture with english, to what extent do older and young people embrace their culture, etc. Armenian would probably be the easiest ethnic group to write about – their city in LA is Glendale and partly Hollywood (Little Armenia neighbourhood – although less prominent in recent years). Use the textbook as main source, but also others – per the assignment description (restaurant menus, website data, photos, etc.)
