Exercise 4: Review OER Content for Your Courses/ Counseling

Prompt
For this exercise we will research, analyze and review five open resources in your content area. To do this you will need to create a free OER Commons (Links to an external site.) account. Reviews will be posted, shared, and retained as a way to contribute to the growing OER movement. Follow the directions below to complete your reviews.
Instructions
1. Create an OER Commons (Links to an external site.) account by clicking the Sign In/Register” button at the top of the home page.
2. Search for and evaluate 5 resources in your content area. You can evaluate the resource by clicking the “evaluate” button on the upper left corner of the record to the resource. You will need to be signed in to post reviews.
3. After you have evaluated the resources in OER Commons, briefly summarize your review. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the resource? What did you like or dislike about the resource?
4. For each resource, include comments on accessibility. You can test accessibility with WAVE (Links to an external site.) – web accessibility evaluation tool.
5. Save your evaluations in a Google Doc or other shareable format. In the review section below, add the name of your content area (for example Biology) as well as your name. Hyperlink your reviews to your name.
