Exercise 3: Review of OER Repositories
Exercise Prompt
There are many repositories for OER content. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. In this section of the course, we will review some of these repositories. By sharing our reviews, we can quickly help other users determine if a repository will serve their needs. Reviews will be posted, shared, and retained as a way to contribute to the growing OER movement.
Briefly answer the questions below. Reviews neednt be extensive. Provide any additional information you think other users would like to know.
Instructions:
1. Select TWO of the repositories below. Put your name by the selected resource. You can do this by clicking “edit” in the upper right corner of this page. Note: only those enrolled in the class will have an edit option.
2. Test out the repository.
A. Try to find different types of materials. How easy is it to find what you need?
B. Is the repository geared towards certain disciplines, types of content, types of courses, etc.?
C. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the repository?
D. Answer these questions in Google Docs or another program that can be hyper linked in the course. Make sure if you use Google Docs that you give others permission to view your document.
3. Hyperlink your review with your name below. Review the directions for hyperlinking in Canvas (Links to an external site.) if you need more help. To double check your work, click your hyperlinked name to see if it goes to your online document.
