Nutritional Intake, Sport Nutrition Knowledge, and Energy Availability in Female Long-Distance Runners

The study main aim is to evaluate nutritional intake (through a 3-day food diary), sport nutrition knowledge (though Trakmans’s et al., 2017 questionnaire), and risk of low energy availability (through Melin’s et al., 2014 questionnaire) in female athletes that have ran either a marathon, half-marathon or 10k race. I need lots of references.I need you to critically review the literature around the topic for me:1) Introduce the literature review with a larger background into people looking to achieve performance and health then it begins to frame the need for energy and macros etc so to talk about endurance running and possibly current practice. (around 500 words).2) Nutritional requirements for female long-distance runners (total should be around 4,000 words).2.1) Energy- talk about energy metabolism for exercise as well and then the requirements for endurance athletes this may lead into body composition at some point Sport specific demands2.2) Carbohydrates- Importance for sport (glycogen stocks)- Current recommendations (Thomas et al. 2016 and Kercksick et al., 2018)- Consequences of low consumption- Practice around endurance athletes2.3) Protein- Importance for sport- Recommendations- Practice around endurance athletes (Thomas et al. 2016 and Kercksick et al., 2018)2.4) FAT- Importance for micronutrients absorption- recommendations- high fat diets and the impact on endurance sport (negative impact for performance)2.5) Iron- role of iron on female athletes- possible losses due to sport- increased need for female athletes2.6) Vitamin D and Calcium- role on bone health- increased need due to sport and gender- vitamin D absorption in tropical countries x nordic countries2.7) Food diaries- food diaries as a way of assessing nutritional intake- why this is a reliable method and why 3 days is better3) Low energy availability (around 2,000-2,500 words). Main article surround the topic is Mountjoy et al. (2018).- what is low energy availability (LEA)- what are the impacts on health? and performance?- RED-s and the female athlete triad- challenges of measuring LEA, here you will get to Melin et al. (2014) questionnaire to assess risk of LEA (the one I used)- dive into studies (critically) evaluating LEA in female endurance athletes4) Sport Nutrition Knowledge (around 1,500-2,000 words)- the ways to assess SNK and why to do it so?- here you will get to Trakman et al. (2017) questionnaire (the one I used). Review the method used and how robust it is.- dive into studies (critically) evaluating SNK in athletes. Does it have an influence on eating habits?
