This is a patchwork assignment which means there will be small sections for each part. This is Patch 1 (first patch out of the 4 patches). Patch 1 requires: Mini review of two relevant research articles from your chosen specialist area [c. 500 words] You are asked to provide mini reviews of two relevant articles taken from recent editions of academic journals. Each review should be roughly 250 words in length and, rather than paraphrasing the abstract, should indicate what you think is the key contribution made by the article to understanding your chosen specialist area. When looking at key contribution you must critique show how this article has improved your understanding of the chosen area (Impact of IPads in teaching and learning at KS2) Be critical and justify its importance in your chosen area Article 1 that you will be writing a mini review on is (attached as Article 1) : Emerging pedagogies for the use of iPads in schools by Ruth Geer, Bruce White, Yvonne Zeegers, Wing Au and Alan Barnes. Article 2 that you will be writing a mini review on is (attached as Article 2) : Raising Early in Math With Interactive Apps: A Randomized Control Trial. The area of focus for Patch 1 is looking at the impact of IPads in teaching and learning at KS2 (UK schools). This means the chosen specialist area is looking at the impact of IPads in teaching and learning at KS2 (UK schools). Hence, each review must indicate what the key contribution is to understanding the impact of IPads in teaching and learning at KS2 (UK schools). Being criticial is crucial as that is what it is asking you to do, analyse and be critical (when analysing critically, remember everything can not be excellent there will be flaws in each article which you have to be critical about, supported with wider literature). To help with what needs to be done, I have attached a document called PATCH 1 EXAMPLES which consists of the task for this Patch, the mark scheme and TWO EXAMPLES of different articles that have been reviewed using the same activity. This is the example of expectation that is expected, using similar language and structure that is included in them examples as well as the level of analysis that needs to be involved in the two mini reviews you will be writing. Please read and understand that document thoroughly as that is what I am paying for and expecting. As well as this, I have attached two documents (Article 1 EXAMPLE of review and Article 2 EXAMPLE of review). These are reviews of the same articles that you will be completing use these as a basis. However, do not rely on them a lot as the question is different this time and the activity is different. Yet, they are useful in making 1 or 2 points to help answer the Patch 1 activity. I have also attached the 3 lecture slides we have had so far (Lecture 1, Lecture 2, Lecture 3). Please spend some time looking at each one as: Lecture 1 goes through the outcomes/expectations, how to write at level 7 (what to avoid), paragraph structure (use this) and analytical writing; Lecture 2 looks at the models and approaches to learning, including learning theories (can be useful when analysing the reviews) and Lecture 3 looks at reflective and independent learning. I have also included some reading which the tutor has provided us with and the reading list. Please use these, where possible, as wider literature. However, please remember, more reading may be required in relation to the chosen specialist area (the impact of IPads in teaching and learning at KS2).
