In order to assess communication with a Texas elected official in the U. S. Congress, each student will do the following:

1. Identify either the U.S. representative or senator who represents them.

2. Choose a public policy issue affecting the United States.

3. Write a minimum one (1) page letter to either their U.S. representative of senator in a proper business format that:

a. Describes the public policy issue chosen.

b. Identifies its impact on the U. S.

c. Proposes a solution or improvement for the public policy issue chosen and

d. Uses language suitable for communicating with a legislator.

4. The letter should be appropriately addressed to the representative or senator and make use of one (1) credible source properly footnoted.
