When a new object, now called Eris, was discovered, it was found to be similar to Pluto. Would this be the 10th planet? At the time there was no definition of a planet. If more are found do we keep adding planets no matter how many?
In 2006 the decision was made to come up with a definition of planet, but Pluto did not fit within this definition. Since then, more objects like Eris and Pluto have been found. These objects are considered Dwarf Planets.
What do you think about the status of Pluto? Were you taught that Pluto was a planet or a dwarf planet in school?
