In this course, you learned about a variety of *literary characteristics including connotation, denotation, tone, and mood*. Take the poems, Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe and ‘My Last Duchess’ by Robert Browning.

Explain how at least one of these *Literary characteristics (focus mostly on both the tone and mood)* is employed in the poems and how it contributes to the overall message in both of the poems.

*This is NOT a compare/contrast essay. You will analyze BOTH poems separately within the same essay although you can transition from one poem to the other by talking about the similarity of both poems being about a man talking about a woman he had a relationship with.

Use examples from the poems you’ve chosen to support your claims.
Include quotations and textual evidence from both the poems you’ve chosen and cite them in MLA format.

The essay must be followed by an MLA style References page with at least 2 sources in addition to the two poems.

The Essay must be between 800-1200 words.

Sources must be American Secondary sources come from peer-reviewed scholarly journals, such as the Journal of Management.
