Tips for success,
1) You must clearly articulate your thesis in the first paragraph of your paper.
2) You must back up your ideas with supporting evidence/analysis (see #2 under Instructions)
3) You must tightly organize your ideas and write in a clear, concise manner.
Paper instructions:
1) Using lecture notes and class readings from Friday, Oct. 16 to Monday, Nov. 16 (inclusive), answer one of the questions listed below in a formal, 5-6 page essay. The documents readings, and lectures in order of when we received them.
2) You must discuss/cite information drawn from at least 5 different class readings and 2 different lectures in support of your argument.
3) For any questions concerning the format of this paper, refer to the "History Department Writing Style Sheet" attached to your syllabus.
4) You must cite (footnote) using Chicago Style any quotations or references drawn from class readings/lectures.
5.) As mentioned above you must use chicago citations as well as in text citations.
6) Separate title page and "works cited" pages are not needed for short papers.
7.) When citing the power points please cite Paul Moyer, History 309 in Chicago style.
