Scenario:
Your small company has just received a Request for Proposal from another company that needs help with a problem occurring in the workplace. (It makes sense for you to explore a workplace challenge in the field you intend to pursue for your career.) Your company, however, is only one of many companies that have been asked for a proposal to solve this problem. The winning proposal gets the job; this is highly competitive.
Your proposal must outline a problem or opportunity, show why it matters and its financial impact, and propose a concrete, definite solution. In addition to showing how the issue is compelling, youll need to show how your solution makes sense, and is an efficient, effective, and cost-saving answer to the problem. Moreover, you must also show your readers why your proposal is the best of all those presented to them.
Closely read Chapter 12, Writing Proposals, pages 422 449 in the textbook to understand both how and why your team would be writing this proposal. You will get an idea of audience, tone, specifics to be included, layout, sections, headings and subheadings to be included. Yours is a response to an external proposal, so pay special attention from p. 430 to the end of the Proposal section. While the example in the book does not include a reference list at the very end, your team should cite the sources you looked up.

Remember to narrow your scope to an issue you can reasonably and accurately address in the space allotted.
Remember that this is not an informational paper. Any and all information that you impart to your readers should be directly related to the proposal and should be persuasive.
Remember that any proposal that is too general, or covers the same ground that has been covered many times before, is unlikely to get chosen.
You should locate at least three current, reputable sources that will support the fact that a) you are most knowledgeable about this issue and b) your proposal is founded in current, accurate data.
You should also make use of relevant visuals (at least one, such as a chart, graph, or cost analysis) that enhance and support your argument.
Use either APA or MLA formatting for your sources, as long as youre consistent.
