The final project in this course encourages students to apply their knowledge of interpersonal skills to the challenges faced by real managers. Students will assess the strengths and weaknesses of a manager and develop a strategy for enhancing the performance of that individual.This assignment requires you to interview one manager to discuss the importance of the interpersonal skills that we will be learning about in BUSI3104 and write a research report that explores the current academic and practitioner literature related to one interpersonal skill critical to that managers performance. The purpose of the report is to improve your awareness of the importance of these skills in the workplace and the contribution that academic research can make to enhancing interpersonal skills.1. Introduction/Executive Summary. Provide an overview of the paper, a clear road map for your main points, and a thesis that will structure your analysis throughout.Details: This section should be approx. 250 words in length2. A Skills Assessment. In this section of the report you will describe the results of your interview with your manger (see CuLearn for interview guidelines). Your focus should be on the one or two interpersonal skills that you feel your manager would like to focus on to improve performance. Included in your discussion should be the relevant results of the self-assessment and the managers responses regarding the importance of the interpersonal skill for success in their job. You should include as an appendix a summary of the results of the self-assessment and the highlights of your interview questions.Details: This section should be approx. 500words in length.3. Research Report: In order to enhance your understanding of the topic and inform your plan for improving your managers interpersonal skill you will be expected to write a focused research report on your interpersonal skill. You are expected to consult a variety of quality sources, that go beyond the text book and lecture materials, to enhance your understanding topic, including a description of the concept, its relevance to managers, methods for improvement etc.Details: This section should be approx. 800 – 1000 words in length.4. Action Plan: In the final section of the report you should develop a clear and actionable plan for your manager to improve their interpersonal skills. Your recommendations should be both practical and supported by research.
