The final project for this class will be to research a real life organization and explain how they conduct/manage their Warehousing/Distribution Center activities. Explain how important is having an efficient Warehouse and Distribution Center Management for the success of the company. The project will be free style but at a College level. Feel free to direct your learning towards your interests in the subject matter.
The paper should be at least 5 pages in length. This is a research paper, so there should be a cover page and a works cited page. The pages should be organized as follows:
Page 1 – Cover Page including a Title, Your Name, the Class Name, Class #, Date, etc.
Page 2-4+ – Main research paper, paragraph requirements are listed below.
Page 5+ – Works Cited Page, there should be at least 2 works cited, though you can cite as many articles/interviews/videos/other works as needed.
The main research paper should be at least 5 paragraphs long, 11 to 12 sized font, and double spaced. Paragraphs should be organized as follows:
First Paragraph – Introduction and information about the company warehouse operation you have chosen to research.
Paragraphs 2-4 – Pick 3-4 chapters from the textbook to apply to your chosen company. You can use the chapter discussion questions to guide your research and writing. Write a paragraph applying the chapter’s content to your company. Use vocabulary words from the chapters in your writing. For example, if you choose to apply concepts from chapter 1 about why your company has a warehouse operation, then write a paragraph about it and explain what the value-add / mission of the warehouse operation is by using vocabulary words such as ‘finished goods warehousing’ or ‘fullfillment warehousing’.
Final Paragraph – Conclusions drawn from your research about your company’s warehouse operations. Some conclusion examples may answer some of the following questions but are not the only conclusions you can write about:
Are the warehouse operations considered to be best in class? Why or why not?
What improvement could the company make to their warehouse operations? Why or why not?
Does the company have enough warehouses established to meet their targets?
Is the warehouse operation helping or hindering the company to meet their targets? How?
