This is the final course in the Master of Public Health program. Throughout this course, you will reflect on your interests and goals, relate public health theory to public health practice elements, and reflect on your own skills, values, and strengths. Discuss two of your professional interests. Provide one short-term and one long-term goal related to your professional interests.
Currently, my professional interests have leaned more towards the business aspects of health care. I have decided to enroll in the GCU MSL program upon completion of this one. My practicum focused on building a portfolio. That is also included in my immediate goals. I think it is important to establish a strong, consistent, and reputable financial infrastructure. Up until this point in my professional journey, I have concentrated mainly on academics. I think it is now time to focus on the business, wealth, and career experience portion of my journey. I need to create a better foundation for financial tenacity. At some point, my name will have to be on the checks that people sign. I am responsible for the influence I have on society. One short term goal would be to begin acquiring the means to support the slight detour I have taken on my educational path (starting the MSL instead of my doctorate). I know that I will need to start paying for my college education on an out-of-pocket basis sooner than later (within the next 6-12 months). My long-term goal, in terms of my career, would probably consist of pursuing a political position of governmental influence, power, or authority. Since education is a lifelong journey, I will most likely continue my education alongside more work experience. I love science and politics. Health policy and law seem to really be set in stone (a re-ignited love of medical medicine and surgery has emerged). We, like people, have a lot of authority over how the justice system influences our lives, I kind of like watching the pieces of the puzzle come together. Therefore, the ability to analyze a synchronism of health, wellness, physical fitness, and beauty is an important second professional interest to me. Aside from that, money really does make the world go round, as does a healthy retirement, savings, and investment portfolio.
