How, when, and why have the Nordic states transitioned from emigrant to immigrant societies? How has immigration changed these societies? Select two of the Nordic countries and discuss their similarities and differences with respect to migration patterns and policies.
Describe the most important characteristics of the Scandinavian welfare states and how they have evolved over time. Discuss how these welfare states have been affected by the political rise of women and by immigration. What are the costs of these welfare states and how have they been financed?
