Write a paper on Neo-Liberalism in the Global South.

Realism and particularly neo-realism (structural realism) have come under tremendous criticism for what is claimed to be their inability to explain IR in the Global South. Scholars have criticized five concepts that are central to realism: anarchy; the international system; the state; sovereignty; alliances (see module 3, lecturette 4). It one thing to criticize neo-realism but what new ways of understanding international relations in the region can we advance? More specifically, keeping these criticisms in mind, can we adapt neo-realism so that it can help us explain and predict wars in the Global South? If so, how? Does a different IR theory explain wars in the Global South better? If so, which one? In other words, which theoretical approach or school of IR (or adaptation of) best captures these concepts and explains IR in the region? (realism, liberalism, economic structuralism are the three IR theories)

*** I have the small video (about 6 minutes) of the professor discussing the criticisms of neoliberalism but the file is too big to upload on here (paper details page). I’d like to email it directly to you so it can be of use to you, if you need.
