History and Systems of Psychology

Part of the metabletic way of thinking about history is that a narrative becomes normative due to how, to use Michel Foucaults phrase, power relations, or who gets to define what counts as history, and understanding history in the singular, capital H. Many voices are drowned out by louder ones. For instance, the 3rd century Taoist scholar, Zhuangzi, argued for a relative gradation and an equalization of all things. Eastern traditions have also brought such ideologies as Wu Wei, or un-forced change, change that occurs without us making it happen. But we seem to plow ahead as Western psychologists in attending to the East. How do you see this relationship between West and East in the progression (regression?) of the profession of psychology? Required Reading: Chapter 3 Only. Note: if you cannot find this book please go ahead and use any applicable articles that you find relevant.
