Perception of progress

Theme – Perception of progress

Thesis: We decided to do our honors in action project in helping kids because we feel it is vital that low-income kids receive the resources they need to continue to progress their education and become successful in our society.

Backstory:
All of our willing Phi Theta Kappa- Chi Nu chapter members donated school supplies. We had a few campaigns and for each campaign, a different member would step in to help in preparing a yellow box and place it inside the campus in front of our adviser office, so others could go and place their donations inside the box. Donations: pencils, crayons, arts, and craft supplies, and all they would consider would be helpful for kids learning at home and in need of.

These are the topics we found to drive our campaigns:

Research 2 sources for 1., 2., and 3. topics below: ( 6 sources in total)

1. Importance of a consistent learning environment for young kids. What happens with them when they start to miss school, how fast do they get behind, and how critical is it to catch up?

2. Disparities between low and high-income families. What are the issues, and whos more affected?

3. Statistics and examples about kids that get better education tend to do better in life, and statistics on highschool graduates vs. undergraduates.

(4. Different learning styles pros and cons, ex: Kinetic learning.)- it’s under work – so it doesn’t need writing!
