Outline of Research Proposal:
The research project will focus on the COVID-19 challenge and how to provide innovative service to Day Program participants in response. Currently, the Adult Day Program is in the preliminary stages of program planning and would like to conduct a client, and caregiver needs assessment regarding technology comfort and use as a first step. The second area of emphasis is to gain a greater understanding of which programs might be of interest to the clients and caregivers as a virtual offering. Finally, with these results in mind, students will be asked to assist with resource development (i.e. tutorials re: how to access and use various social media/conference tools, or online services such as web-banking, grocery delivery, medical services etc.) for now and future situations where social distancing is indicated.
Survey questionnaires have been identified as the method of data collection.
Research Method to use will be: Quantitative Method
Target Participants: 20-30
Research question (PICOT): Barriers faced by older adults above the age of 65 attending virtual sessions during Covid-19 pandemic in the adult day program at the salvation army.
