READ: Students are often unable to set aside their ability to ‘solve a marketing problem’ because it is so much easier to generate solutions. But is essential for this course, that our immediate reaction to a marketing problem IS TO FIND INFORMATION=) to expand our understanding of the problem and even find best practices and/or trends in the industry.
Let’s take a CURRENT MARKETING PROBLEM, and demonstrate your ability to SEARCH FOR INFORMATION that needs to be considered BEFORE solving the problem. (Remember, in addition to your own resourcefulness, you have a Module in Canvas with Resources you may find helpful=).
Here is the current marketing problem for Vacqueroz restaurant. Vacqueroz is located in the Hall Center business park near UNT Frisco Campus. Upon the required closing of all restaurants for the COVID pandemic, the brothers that own the restaurant need to know how they can continue to generate income, therefore they need information about the potential customers near their location. (remember do not solve this problem with your own ideas). Brothers Jorge, and Luis need some information but do not know how or where to find this information.
1). What percentage of the population eats Tex-mex food? And what is their demographic profile? CITE YOUR SOURCE
2) How far are people willing to travel of a ‘local restaurant’? CITE YOUR SOURCE
3) Since Vacqueroz is located near UNT Frisco 2811 Internet Blvd, the zip code is 75034. USING CLARITAS zip code lookup what is the best demographic profile for Vacqueroz to target from their current location? (hint: students you must, must use the resource module to find Claritas, then enter the zip code and wait patiently for the system to reply with 5 segments. Your job here is to report on ONE segment you believe best matches the demographic profile to your answer in #1
4) What did you learn about conducting these simple information searches?
Remember, do not solve the problem, simply seek information, and report the information you find.
Remember, students must meet the graded discussion rubric requirements as the grades are issued as ‘all or nothing’ in two categories.
Be sure and number your responses in your post and CITE YOUR SOURCE.
Remember the skill expectation at the Junior level is that you can think logically, use the library, and credible internet sources.
