1Identify 2 news articles that discuss issues you believe relate to development. These can be two completely unrelated issues (ex. one on maternal health, one on the environment), two articles on the same issue but discussing different cases (ex. One on migration in Syria, one on migration in Honduras), or two articles about the same case, but from different angles (ex. the different forms of violence faced by women from Indonesia that travel to Singapore in search of work: one article that discusses the roots of the migration issue, one that discusses gender violence against female domestic staff).
2Download the articles and make a sharable copy of them (ex. .pdf or .doc), and attach both articles to THE END of your assignment, after your reference list/bibliography if you have one.
3For each article:
a. write a short summary of the article topic (around 100 words).
b. write a short analysis of how the issue relates to development and of how the author has represented the issue using concepts covered in the course materials/classes (ex. colonialism, migration, neoliberalism) (around 150 words).
c. write a short reflection on the source (which newspaper and its leanings, what is the news organization like), what was highlighted and missed (how the author framed the issue), and the implications that could have for readers understandings of this development issue (around 100 words).
d. create a list of references if you cite any sources besides the media articles you discuss. For this assignment, you DO NOT HAVE TO CITE other sources UNLESS you feel that you have drawn on their ideas in your analysis or quote them directly. Please use APA format for your in-text citations and list of references.
