Hughes claims Carl Sandberg as one of his main influences. Since we just read Sandberg last week, you will probably see his influence on Hughess poems. After reading all of Hughess poems, pick one that you would like to compare to one of Sandbergs poems. How is the imagery similar or different? How is the poems subject similar or different? Are these poems free verse or metered?
