Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using qualitative and quantitative approaches and methods in language testing and assessment research: A literature review.

Methods of collecting data are through the use of questionnaires and interviews. Culture is navigated by appropriately approaching culture cautiously and addressing topics with non-offensive words which may affect a participants cultural beliefs. Stakeholders with higher education levels are knowledgeable and can easily understand the research questions. However, lower education levels require simple language and further explanations to be provided. Interviews are cost-effective and enable accurate, extensive, and intensive collection of data (Rahman, 2020). Their limitations include being time-consuming and that the quality of data is dependent on the interviewers capability to gather data well. Surveys allow for the collection of a wide range of data and reach many participants within a short time; but are limited since the researcher cannot ask follow-up questions, and participants interpret questions differently, while some participants leave questions unanswered.
