After watching Pipeline and the interviews with Dominique Morisseau, write a brief essay (250-350 words) in which you discuss how learning about the playwright herself has affected your understanding of the play and the choices she made in writing it. Are there aspects of how she got started writing plays, her discussion of the play itself, her life experience, things that concern her as an artist and a person, how she sees the world, etc., that you can relate to what you saw in the production? Be sure to include specific examples from what Morisseau said in the interviews (just the ideas; you dont need to quote verbatim) and from the production you watched. For example, is there a character or a scene that seems particularly real, which makes sense given its relationship to Morisseaus own life experiences?
Make sure you proofread for spelling, syntax, and other writing issues.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of potential academic integrity issues, students will no longer be able to edit or delete their discussion postings. If you post more than once, whatever you post first is what will be graded. If you are concerned about technical issues, try composing your posting elsewhere (in Word or some other text-based application) and then pasting it as a reply to the discussion board. If you run into an issue with posting, email me immediately.
