PAPER INSTRUCTIONSS: (I have also attached the required readings and the sources I am supposed to use) Current research on inequalities often uses an intersectional perspective, which recognizes that gender is not the only social marker that impacts people’s social experiences, opportunities, and worldviews, but that gender also intersects with other statuses deemed important in society. Intersectionality recognizes that most individuals hold a position characterized by both privilege and oppression based on their configuration of race, class, and gender as well as sexual orientation, age, disability, nationality, and other significant social statuses. In this view, nearly everyone contributes to the continuation of oppression by enjoying the unearned privileges associated with their social statuses. This differs from previous views of inequality that considered individuals either a member of a dominant/privileged group or a member of an oppressed group.
Write a paper that examines your intersectional position. Focus your discussion on race, class, and gender. You may include other statuses and identities as well such as ability, religion, and age. Be sure to examine both the disadvantages and privileges that result from your position. Relate your analysis to the assigned readings and be sure to properly cite any sources that you use.
If you are not comfortable disclosing your own identities (and that’s totally okay!) you are also welcome to choose a different combination of identities or focus on the identities of a public figure of your choosing.
Your assignment should be 1-2 pages (double-spaced) not including references or headings
You must integrate something from the required course reading or other academic/scientific sources (be sure to properly cite everything!) along with your own thoughts and reflections.
