Write an essay that consists a brief paper written on a topic chosen by the student, on a subject related to one or more of the topics of the first 5sessions of the course. It is suggested (even though not mandatory) that the chosen topic is taken from a news-worthy event (recent or less recent) that is related to populism and illiberal democracies. The relation between the chosen topic of the paper and the course must be made clear by the student since the beginning of the paper, in the introduction. There is no particular format or methodology for this exercise, but a structure (titles, subtitles) can be useful for the reader to better understand the paper.
