Write a research paper that compares and contrasts two jazz artists. The artists you choose must be first and foremost be a jazz artist. To make that determination simply look at the Wikipedia article on that person. If jazz is mentioned in the first sentence of his or her Wikipedia entry you can proceed with your research. If it is not, you should ask me first.
The paper is probably easiest if you pick two artists who are quite different from one another. The idea is to talk about similarities/differences in their musical style, similarities/differences about influences on them and how they influenced others, and similarities/differences in their place in history. Of course, you can talk about any other similarities/differences you find. Do not write two separate biographies of the artists. All of your discussion needs to be integrated comparison/contrast discussion.
For this paper you need to use at least one source OTHER than Wikipedia. Only list sources in bibliography that you actually used. I am not interested in dozens of sources. On top of the first content page, place the title of your paper. The bibliography page is one additional page not included in the above content pages. Citations are needed in this paper. Your paper will not begin with XX was born on September 1, 1900. Do not name their parents unless they had a direct impact on the comparison/contrast. Frankly, spend almost no time on their young years. Spend most of your time on their mature musical years, that is, the years we remember them for. How should your paper begin? The first paragraph should eloquently introduce the two artists and hit on some of your overarching findings. Then, proceed with paragraphs that expand on the points and drive home the interesting comparison and contrasts. As with any formal paper your personal comments should not be included. There should be no informalities and absolutely no use of the word I and you.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS of this paper:
You must refer to your artist by his/her last name or their full name. The only exception when you can use just their first name is when they are 18 years old or younger (then use of young John etc. is acceptable).
Do not write very much on crisis like drugs. Talk about the artists and their music.
