Lullaby Leslie Marmon Silko

Lullaby Leslie Marmon Silko

The readings this week are short, and I think you’ll like them.
Who is Leslie Marmon Silko?
Silko is from Laguna Acoma Pueblo the same Pueblo as Simon Ortiz. Silko has a complicated identity because she is biracial. Many Native American writers do not think she should be writing about Native American life.
As you read _Lullaby,_ underline words that describe the landscape. What role does landscape play in the story? How does the place (the southwest USA) become a character in the story? Why is place so important to the people of this story?
