Identity shapes our perceptions and the way we categorize people. Our individual and collective views influence our thinking.

In our textbook, Beyond Race: Cultural Influences on Social Life, read “Identity shapes our perceptions and the way we categorize people. Our individual and collective views influence our thinking.” (Kennedy, 2018, p. 36).

The author explains and describes several different factors that contribute to the shaping of our identities such as, age group, gender, sexual orientation, geography, physiology (body and mind), race and ethnicity, religion and belief, social class, and even technology.

1) In a 2 paragraph (minimum) response choose ONE of these identity factors that you believe shapes identity the most or more than some of the other factors.
2) Explain what the factor is and explain why you believe it plays a substantial role in shaping identity. Please cite any information you use from Kennedy’s textbook with in-text/parenthetical citations.
3) You can contextualize your response with either personal experience and viewpoints or examples that you see in the world today or both.
