The topic I chose is violence in schools. Please make sure that you address it from a global perspective (i.e., not only based on the U.S.). I upload the instruction and rubrics. Below is general information which I wrote when I chose the topic.

Title: Violence in schools

Schools are expected to be a haven for kids to interact harmoniously, peacefully and learn the needed social skills and academics. However, recent events have proven contrary to this, with increased violence in so many schools worldwide. This pandemic has become common in so many countries it has brought a cause for alarm. This violence has therefore provoked the question of the cause and solution to violence in school.

Violence in schools gets more alarming day by day as it evolves from bullying to cases where student pulls out guns to attack classmates. Peterson and Densley (2021) suggest that the student who performs the attack usually gives signs of distress before committing the violence. One of such cases is a student who had revealed cut marks to his English teacher. However, the teacher at that time did not know how to handle the incident. The student would two years later force his classmate to align on the wall and use a gun to shoot each. According to Peterson and Densley (2021), most mass shooters had experienced or undergone a form of childhood trauma, had gone through counseling, suffered from mental illness, and were interested in past shootings. Most of the students are suicidal, and, in most shootings, they end up killing themselves afterward.

Conclusively punishing such students with suspension or charges and expulsion is not effective. Instead, these methods only worsen things. Violence in schools is a plea for help the students trying to communicate that all is not well. These students must be assisted with a long-term solution like mental health treatment, substance treatment, or social interrelation checkup. It is a reminder for the parents to be more careful where they place their guns. It is a reminder that teachers pay close attention to their students and be trained sufficiently to handle such students before they turn violent.
