These response papers, three pages in length (maximum), will be reflections on that day’s reading(s). You must choose a quote (or a few sentences) from the reading-these are original texts by your theorists, including Weber, Durkheim, Simmel, DuBois, Gilman-and focus your response on your chosen quote.
Your response paper should ALWAYS start with your chosen quote (single spaced, with the page number where you found the quote). Be sure you are choosing a quote from the actual theorist, and NOT the editors introduction to the original excerpts. In these response papers (double spaced after your quote), you should tell me what you think the theorist is arguing based on your chosen quote, and how the theorist’s arguments relate to your life or modern-day society (in other words, how does this original text relate to modern society). These statements will keep you up on the reading and provide a basis for class discussion as well. The majority of your response will be relating your quote to some aspect of your life or current society.
