This paper requires the student to:
1. Provide an in-depth research study using library resources to understand the wider persuasive context of the topic chosen. Why did the person, program, event, or movement carry persuasive weight in light of the situation and the time? Dissect the words, phrases, images, etc. the topic employed while discussing the context of the social setting in which the topic first emerged.
Do not think of this as a bio or a history paper. However, you want to look at each artifact from the frame of the communication context. Incorporate class and text concepts. Take the initiative to relate all chapters and resource materials provided to your topic.
2. Be persuasive in writing, while also going to the level of analysis where you can note what is specifically persuasive about the person, movement, or show. You should show a depth of knowledge of the resources you have chosen linking terms from the course Beware of superficial uses of books and journals.
3. Cite only the texts used in your references and cite all references within the text. Avoid heavy quoting.
4. Thoughts should be original and quotes should supplement the ideas you put in the paper. Avoid comments like I think or I believe. Avoid redundancy.
