What is your understanding of the meaning of the text?

What is your understanding of the meaning of the text? What truth or reality or meaning was the author trying to convey to us? Be specific: derive a specific meaning from the text and clearly state that meaning as your main or controlling idea in the first part of your essay. The whole purpose of your essay is to convince the reader about that idea: your interpretation of the meaning or truth the text teaches us.
Introduce your topic and text(s) and state the position of your essay, the argument or thesis at the beginning (in the introductory paragraph), demonstrate/support it through discussion of 4 or 5 distinct reasons why you are right about the idea/meaning of the text, examples of its presence in the text (each one developed as an evidence or body paragraph), and then, include a brief summary/closing paragraph at the end.
Whichever text you focus on, you may also use the other readings weve done, including documentaries or videos, if they are helpful to you in making your case and developing your essay. Remember though that your focus is the one text youve chosen to make sense of. (ALL of the texts used in the paper must appear on your Works Cited page.)
