When looking at evaluation, it is critical that we assess more than just someones acquisition of knowledge. Employers are much more concerned with whether someone can perform the skill on the job than they are with learners being able to simply pass a written test. Therefore, when evaluating our training program, we need to find ways to observe skill acquisition through demonstration of performance. This is often easy within such environments as on-the-job training (OJT). In OJT environments we can physically stand next to the learner and watch them demonstrate skill performance. This tends to be more difficult to achieve in virtual environments. Discuss different evaluation techniques that could be used for learners to demonstrate their ability to perform skills. Remember that we need to be able to observe this performance, even though we may not be able to physically be with the learner or may be limited on what we are able to see or hear from them.
