It is Augustus’ interpretation of his own long reign, and its main purpose was to influence how others understood him and his deeds. It’s not a bunch of unbiased facts. It’s a carefully crafted message meant to manipulate you, the reader.
Prompt: In your essay you will answer two main questions: 1) What is Augustus trying to convince his readers of, and why does he want to convince them of it? and 2) Do Tacitus’ and/or Cassius Dio’s interpretation of Augustus’ reign match Augustus’ interpretation?
