4 page Research Paper in Chicago Format. The premise of this paper is to investigate how H &M, which is a fast-fashion line, manufacturers their clothes which causes harmful impact to the environment and workers. Based on research, garment workers in fast fashion lines such as H & M are predominately women from low-socioeconomic backgrounds are exploited for their labor by harsh working conditions and low wages. Within this paper, outline how clothes are manufactured specifically how H & M fast fashion line production. Example, Investigate the manufacturing and supply line for some item of
clothing or food. For clothing, go from raw materials to finished retail product. For example, where does a particular mens dress shirt at a retail store or sold online store come from? What materials is it made from? How were they processed? How did they go from cloth to clothing? Who did the work from raw fibers to cloth, from cloth to clothing, to packaging and sales. After investigating the manufacturing process; outline how fast-fashion (H & M) exploits their workers who are mainly women. Because of the high demands of large amount of clothing in short amount of time, the workers who can contribute to these high demands are Asian women from low-socioeconomic backgrounds who are exploited for their work by harsh working conditions and low wages. Conclude the finding from how H & M demands for clothing and their workers, that these fast fashion lines exploit and oppress Asian women’s labor.
