You will meet in person with an individual who has lived in the United States less than two years and conduct an interview with them. For this assignment, you will compare and contrast your own subjective cultural food practices with those of a recent immigrant to the U.S. and present your assessments/conclusions about this comparison/contrast. You will also offer your ideas about how these contrasts may influence plausible limitations or constraints on creating comprehensive, cross-cultural nutrition directives. The focus of this paper should be to understand how the interviewee has transitioned to life in the U.S., what dietary changes they may have made by choice or circumstances, as well as, the availability or lack of their traditional foods while here; and how they have kept and/or altered traditions and cultural practices surrounding food while in the United States.
