Goal:
This assignment encourages students to use their previous knowledge from the course and from outside resources to answer a specific question which they feel was not addressed in sufficient details during one the lectures. This informative assignment will help students 1) continue practicing their written communication and 2) learn more about a topic that was initially difficult to grasp and/or covered only superficially. This assignment will help further the students knowledge about various aspects of the course and communicate it in a way that would be clearly understood by their peers.

Audience:
Your classmates. Assume that their knowledge is equivalent to yours. Explain your reasons for choosing your particular question, why you feel that this question is important and relevant to the topic of the lecture, and expand on the different points which you believe could have been better explained and/or covered in greater details during the lecture.

Instructions:
This essay should be around 2-4 pages double-spaced (aim for 2 pages), normal margins, Times New Roman, 12 font. This page count does not include references. There should be at least 5 references, which includes 3 outside reliable sources. You must include in-text citations in your essay. The title of your informative essay should be your chosen question.

The informative essay needs to have an introduction, body and conclusion. The introduction can present your question and grab the readers attention. The introduction should be a paragraph and provide any background information to understand the question, such as definitions or a brief description of what will be covered. Once reading the introduction, the reader should have the appropriate information to further understand the question and your answer to the question. The body is the largest portion of your essay and is where you answer your chosen question by facts, examples and/or statistics. This is where most of your references should be used. The conclusion summarizes the essay in a paragraph. Here, you should reiterate the question and include the highlights of your answer (your body paragraph).

This is 25% of your grade and will be graded as follows:
Is the question used as the title of the essay clearly formulated? (3%)
Does the Introduction contain the necessary information required to understand the rest of the essay? (3%)
Does the introduction clearly explain the importance and relevance of the question to the topic of the lecture? (3%)
Are the main points used to answer the questions well formulated and logical? Please mention a minimum of three different points (4% for each point for a maximum of 12%)
Does the conclusion clearly and succinctly summarize the question and the main points used to answer it? (3%)
Appropriate use of references and general presentation of the essay. (1%)
