Guided Reading Analysis

Choose 1 video from the Week 10 Asynchronous Slides to watch again. Then, complete the following. Include any and ALL details and opinions! The questions are there to guide you but you can certainly add more! Use headings in your work.

* Label what video you have chosen.

1. Describe the scene! (Grade level, book level, number of students, student seating, teacher location, routines, etc.)

2. Administration of Running Record: What is the teacher doing? Describe how the student sounds and what kinds of errors are made. What are the other students doing?

3. Orientation/Book Introduction: What did the teacher do to support the first reading? Was it successful? Why? Why not? Who was doing the work? Too rich? Too lean?

4. First Reading: What is the teacher doing during the reading? Name the support she is giving. What prompts is she using? Is she effective? How do you know?

5. After the First Reading: Describe what the teacher is doing. Name the teaching. Is she focused on one student or all students?

6. Summary: Record your overall impression of the lesson. Was it successful? If no, why not? If you could give feedback to the teacher, what would it be?
