Maggie’s Post: During this class I gained a great knowledge of the intricate dance of organizational staffing and identifying different ways of managing nurse staffing to ensure patient care needs are met. As a nurse leader it is important that I keep nurse satisfaction as well financial stability of the organization in mind. Fast & Rankin (2018) discuss how nurse managers are faced with financial struggles while trying to manage an increased demand for nurses at the bedside.

I would like to use the concepts from this course to put together a project for my practicum around nurse staffing and retention, possibly on how to fine tune acuity-based staffing and gather more staff nurse buy in. Certification in nursing can not only improve my knowledge of the role but be identified as the content expert in my field.
