For this assignment, you will be analyzing Portlandia’s “What About Men” a satirical comedy skit that makes an argument about a social/cultural issue that it seeks to change or question (feminism, equality/equal rights, progress). You will find and analyze the persuasive and satirical tactics used in the video, and provide SPECIFIC examples from the video to illustrate how they are used. You will also be looking at some of the messages/ideas brought up in the video (how progressiveness can potentially create disadvantages/hardship for men, the fragilness of toxic masculinity) and will argue whether these messages are accurate based on your research.

You are required to discuss at least TWO messages found in “What About Men”. To support your chosen messages, you will be using credible research articles to either VALIDATE or INVALIDATE the accuracy of the message. You will also be discussing the IMPORTANCE and CONTEXT of the message at the time the video was made (2016)- feminism, women rights, president elect Hilary Clinton.
You are also required to discuss at least TWO persuasive and/or satirical tactics (see attachments). To support the use of your chosen tactics, you will rely on textual examples and analysis in order to discuss HOW and WHY the tactic is used, and if it is EFFECTIVE. If you want to also incorporate research quotes, that is fine, but not required. Follow attached outline format.
