In the process, as a Persian poet writing in a land ruled by foreign conquerors who speak a different language (Arabic), he alters many factual details, including Sekandars parentage, to meet the demands and desires of his own cultural moment. The present age has its own expectations about cultural heroes. Your assignment is to refit and repurpose a character from an old legendto breathe twenty-first-century life into the original. In other words, create a legend about Rostam or Alexander suitable for our particular moment. With approval, you may also set your legend in a different time period (e.g. the nineteenth-century frontier or colonial New England).
