Every student will select a topic for an in-depth research. Students shall be prepared to write a 5page research paper of an approved topic using at least one government source and at least one peer reviewed scholarly references to present their knowledge of the subject. Other resources are encouraged.
The selected topic for research shall be approved by seventh week of class. Topics can be selected from the textbook or other scholarly sources that involve concepts regarding youth programming, juvenile crime and/or delinquency or current issues affecting youth and crime (e.g. juvenile court system, juvenile detention or incarceration, juveniles waived to the adult system, juvenile delinquency and truancy).
