This essay requires you to analyse how you have developed professionally throughout the BA course to meet the requirements of the NQSW social work role using the PCF domains as guide to understanding the level of accountability and the responsibilities you will have as NQSW.
The aim of this essay is for you to become self-aware of your professional development to date, and to also identify the gaps in your development and your future learning needs in rapport to the PCF guide.
This is an important analysis, preparing you to discuss your professional contribution with employers, and to cope with the expectations of the ASYE programme.
To start with you need to select the social work job you would like to analyse in this essay: you could select the job you actually want to apply for, or, if you havent yet decided on that, you could consider the role of social worker in your current placement.

Then discuss these aspects specific to the role you have selected, considering in particular.

some of the limitations of that role reflect on how these impact on the outcomes of the people in need of care and support. Consider also if there are any contradictions between the legal frameworks and the needs of the service users for example and what skills have you developed to manage these in the best interest of the service user.
Aspects of power, ethics/values and safe practice are relevant across the areas of practice highlighted in the learning outcomes so these concepts should be addressed in a number of places in your essay.
LO 2. Demonstrate an understanding of critically-informed reflective practice to sustain a professional career in social work, underpinned by the Professional Capabilities Framework (PCF).
Clarify what critical reflection is and why it is so important in social work practice refer to the PCF.
Discuss how can this skill help you progress in your social work career.
