Case Study Information Literacy Assignment (30 points) INSTRUCTIONS (PLEASE SEE THE INSTRUCTIONS ATTACHED AND SOURCES TO UTILIZE IN THE ESSAY) (Please reference the sources #1-9 for additional material if needed)
For the paper you have to develop an 4-page APA formatted case study paper a(page count does not include cover page and references) to illustrate key research-based issues in emergency management. The choices involve examining either: 1) a myth or myths (may use two strongly associated phenomenon) related to the social response to disaster events
The paper is to discuss the research-based knowledge about the issue with the event(s) used to illustrate the phenomena. The paper should not be solely focused on non-associated aspects of the event. The event should be chosen carefully to illustrate the issue. It should also have sufficient research conducted to support the paper. More specific discussion of the two options is below.
Myths of the Social Response to Disaster Events
For this paper option, a myth (and potentially a second strongly associated myth) will be explored for its consequences for emergency management practice. The myth should be defined and explained in the context of emergency management using academic definitions and sources. For this option, a single event may not be sufficient to illustrate the consequences of the phenomena for emergency management practice. A second event may also be used to provide context for and explain the consequences. The paper should focus on the myth(s) and use the events as illustrative of the issue and consequence.
Myth – Looting Is Commonplace After a Disaster
