BETHANY’S POST: As I am reading through our discussions, I am noticing commonalities, instead of differences. Common themes I noticed are: inspiring change, supporting our teams, being innovative, and leading by example. The way in which we achieve the commonalities may be approached differently. For example, what I consider inspiring change may be different than another leader. Incorporating shared governance is one method I have to inspire change and support our teams by encouraging ownership and accountability. I do not agree with my organization in wanting to implement the shared governance model merely to achieve Magnet designation. I believe that the change should be inspired and the rewards reaped once we have been supportive of our teams and led by example.
