Closing Statement

Info:

The Closing Statement is an in-depth reflection on the ways you have changed your ideas and/or ways of thinking over the semester. It is, in a way, a comprehensive culmination of your Response papers, but looking at the course as a whole rather than specific topic. Again, you are thinking about your thinking. What has changed? Why? How? What are the implications of these changes on other ideas? Etc.

More In-Depth Info:

This paper (1000+ words) is a reflection and analysis of your personal development over the course of the semester. It is a comparison of your initial ideas when the
course started, to the ideas you hold now at the end of the semester.

To write this paper, you will draw on all the previous assignments, in order to track the ways in which your ideas have become clearer, more refined, and better articulated.

Pay special attention to the process of change if an idea was added, modified, or removed and the reasons for this change. As in the rest of the course, were interested in why you hold your ideas, not so much what ideas you hold.

This paper is informal, in that it is a kind of grand self-reflection on your own ideas over the course of the semester. That said, the expectation is of a clear, concise, and meaningful effort. Grammar, structure, flow, word-choice, etc. should be carried out at the highest level. Remember that careful articulation is key to both self-understanding and communication.
