Explain how the use of racial discrimination like racial micro-aggressions and stereotypes affect the identity and academic performance of minority students in higher education. This may mean transforming your Argumentative Researched Essay or shifting your research focus to a topic tangentially related to it that may be more appealing, timely, and relevant to this audience. The resulting document could appear in a news media site or professional blog and cover a current events topic/argument that you are an expert on, as a result of your research to date. For example, one student wrote his PRN about a trip to the Outer Banks in which he encountered dolphins. For his ARE, he focused on the problem of plastic waste in our oceans. His POP then looked at ghost nets” (i.e., castaway fishing gear) and its current impact on wildlife, a concern that was too narrow to develop in depth in the ARE.

Requirements:
Your Public Opinion Piece should be at least 4 full pages long but not more than 6 (this includes your images but not the Works Cited page).
It should be written for a particular audience to have a specific impact. For example, that could be a call to action, changing readers minds, educating them, or maintaining solidarity. That means it cannot be just a rehashing of your ARE.
It must include both text and some visual elements. Cite any images you employ in a style youve agreed on with your teacher (MLA is the default), both in-text and in a Works Cited page. Images must be thoughtfully chosen and integrated; they must add something meaningful to the post, not just take up space. Images should not dominate the text or any particular page unless there is a sound rhetorical reason for doing so.
In addition to any images, you should make use of 3-4 sources and cite them appropriately.
Attached to the front of your Public Opinion Piece, you must include a page of reflection (not counted in the four-page requirement) in which you analyze and evaluate what you were attempting to do, who exactly your audience is, and how you are reaching that audience. The more specific you are in that regard, the better. Also, you must include an argument for your choice of images. Why are they meaningful and what do they add?

Form: Similar to what you might find on an online opinion/news site, how you format your work will vary. You may include hyperlinks, pull quotes, embedded video, wraparound text, and the like, but it will be important to adapt these guidelines to the requirements of the course.
