Your topic should include information about the broad topic and the narrowed down, specific hypothesis. Topics are limited to specific mental illnesses listed in the current edition of the DSM (DSM-5), specific theories and/or techniques of counseling, or counseling with a specific type of demographic population. For most of you that demographic will be children. Candidates may wish to combine 2 or more of these topics if he or she so chooses. (Note that your hypothesis should be written something like this: It is hypothesized that by doing XYZ, there will be a decrease in ABC.)
The purpose of this assignment is to thoroughly review recent literature related to a topic of interest in counseling. Your task is to obtain, review, and summarize recent research that has been conducted in your area of interest. In addition, you are to incorporate into the literature review diversity and culturally related issues. Do not underestimate the length of time this project will take.
This literature review must be completed using APA (7th ed.) style.
You will need to cite a minimum of six (6) reference sources not more than 10 years old in completing this literature review. These six sources must include 6 peer-reviewed research journal articles. You may utilize other resources and cite them appropriately, but YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 6 PEER-REVIEWED JOURNAL ARTICLES NO OLDER THAN 10 YEARS OLD as well. A reference page with 5 (no more/no less) peer reviewed articles are to be turned in in week 3. This is to give you feedback on your APA style before submitting the final draft.
Be sure to include appropriately formatted title, abstract, and references pages. Also, be sure to include introduction and conclusion sections in your paper. Be sure to use appropriately formatted headings (7th edition) throughout your paper to organize the content of your review.
The body of this paper will be 6 to 7 pages long. Please note that while required, title page, abstract, method section and references page(s) do not count in the page total for this assignment.
You must include headings throughout your literature review paper, following APA (7th ed.) guidelines (p. 47-49) Section 2.27, APA Manual, 7th edition).
Time management is very important with regard to this project. Candidates are required to monitor their own timelines to ensure that they have an opportunity to cover all areas of their presentations.

The body of your paper will begin on page 3. The Method section for this paper should NOT begin before page 8. If it does, you have NOT thoroughly reviewed the literature to give a good explanation of your topic and why you are going to do what you are doing.
